Herts CVS Group is a network of the 9 CVS agencies in Hertfordshire. The Group acts strategically to develop and support the services provided to local community-voluntary organisations.
CVS (Councils for Voluntary Service) agencies, also known as local infrastructure organisations, are based in all Districts of the County. Working together, they are increasing the effectiveness of their role in regard to providing a unique link between ‘grassroots’ community-voluntary and decision-makers in the statutory sector. The community-voluntary (also known as third or not-for-profit) sector is a significant contributor to the local economy; particularly in regard to promoting the concept that economic well-being and quality of life should be experienced by all on an inclusive basis. Recent estimates indicate that there are 8,000 community-voluntary organisations in Hertfordshire; of whom over 1,800 are affiliated to their local CVS agency. CVS services vary across the Districts and include: training for volunteers and paid staff; recruitment of volunteers; advice on funding and governance; low-cost equipment hire and use of facilities and networking events. The Herts CVS Group complements the work of local CVS agencies by raising the profile of the community-voluntary sector across the County in forums such as: Herts Together; Herts Prosperity Forum; Herts Rural Forum, Herts Compact Group, and Herts Infrastructure Consortium. Herts CVS Group enhances the effectiveness of the District CVS in working to improve communications and opportunities for local groups, ensuring better representation for the very diverse community that is the community-voluntary sector. If you are not already affiliated to your local CVS make contact with them via this site to find out more about what is on offer today!
