Communication
Herts CVS Group continues to develop its thinking around this vital area of our role. Communication with member organisations (preferably 2-way) is at the heart of all the services provided by the CVS agencies. Put at its simplest, if you don’t know what we offer, how can your community-voluntary organisation benefit from the service? Local ‘hard copy’ newsletters are sent out by many of the CVS agencies but these are an increasingly expensive means of distributing information. The cost and engagement with a ‘hard copy’ county-wide newsletter is an issue for us, so the Herts CVS Group now produces an electronic publication, entitled CVS Voice available from the ’newsletters’ section of this website and a monthly electronic news digest also avaiable by clicking on ’newsletters’.
Receipt of e-newsletters may place extra demands on your organisation such as the need to upgrade computers, Internet connections and printers. Remember that your local CVS is there to help you with funding advice. £ Herts CVS Group continues to implement a standardised database system, Volbase, for recording contact and other information about its Members. The initial phase of this was funded through the Herts Infrastructure Consortium (ChangeUp). Ultimately it is expected that this database will be compatable with web enabled services such as on-line membership forms. For those with concerns about data protection issues be assured that these are at the top of our agenda. Herts CVS Group focuses particularly on its service to member organisations but much of our work is concerned with ensuring adequate communication (again 2-way) between our statutory and other partners and our members.
