As part of the County Council commitment to equalities, Herts CVS Group has been asked to address the needs of voluntary and community groups in identifying and meeting training needs around equalities. This will enable the groups to ensure that good practice with regard to equalities issues is at the core of the services they offer to Hertfordshire’s communities. Consultations will be held with a range of key agencies working with black and minority ethnic communities, elderly, disabled, youth, gay and lesbian, women and faith groups. This has included questionnaires being sent to voluntary and community groups across Hertfordshire and focus groups at district level to ascertain the sectors perceptions of equalities and asking how they implement their equal opportunities policy in the day-to-day running of their organisation. Based on the information received from this research a report detailing actions for future development of equalities information and training to Hertfordshire’s voluntary and community sector was produced.
