’£ind the £unding’ CVS newsletters along with regular direct member mailings, often contain funding information. Some CVS produce specialist funding newsletters, and the Herts CVS Group Funding Advice Network (FAN) produce a joint electronic newsletter entitled ’Find the Funding’

Funding Support for Voluntary & Community Groups
Your local CVS has a wide range of resources available to assist your group in searching for funds. Indeed, some CVS are able to employ a specialist Funding Advisor for you to talk to. Others can put you in touch with a similar person working within your local authority. Contact your local CVS for more information.

Getting Ready for Contracts - A chance to assess whether contracts are for your organisations, top tips in terms of an approach to contracts and insight into what contracting authorities are looking for.

Developing a Fundraising Strategy - These slides show step by step how to develop a fundraising strategy which will keep you on track. It describes a model process which in real life is seldom as neat but which for that reason will help to keep you focused.

 

Adding to Your Advantage - A workshop which explores ’Full Cost Recovery’ the business-like approach to ensuring that your group or organisation meets the current costs of delivering its projects and services in full. It helps to ensure there is a surplus to invest in the future of the organisation to ensure sustainability.   • Specially arranged funding "road shows" or information events
  • As part of Voluntary Sector Forums or Community Lunches

IT RESOURCES including:

  • Database search facilities on FunderFinder, Grant Finder or Trustfunding, saving you time in your search for funding and summarising funding directories
  • Electronic funding newsletters sent to you by email
  • Software to help you plan applications and prepare budgets.

TRAINING at low cost to assist your fundraising for example:

  • Understanding what funders want
  • Writing / Completing effective funding applications
  • Running events to raise funds

RESOURCE AREAS situated at many CVS offices providing:

  • Directories
  • Periodicals
  • Training guides
  • Fundraising publications

DIRECT PROMOTION of local funds:

ADVICE, & SUPPORT including:

  • Face to face or telephone consultation meetings & suggestions
  • Reading Applications
  • Help With Office Services / Copying
  • References for applications

RAISING THE CEILING is a project which can also help voluntary and community groups explore potentially sustainable funding sources, including earned income. The project also provides marketing advice - through training, newsletters, e-mail updates, and visits.
